Here it is Wednesday night and I still haven't posted anything about this week's farm haul. For shame, Lady A! And this was an extremely exciting haul! We're slowly inching towards summer vegetables and we got a fantastically large fruit share this time around! While not all fresh and sweet, it was been delightful to be able to munch on fruit all week--exacty what we were hoping for when we first signed up for the share. So, without further ado, here's what we got: 4 cucumbers, 2 spring onions, 9 carrots, 5 fava beans, 2 oz. parsley, 3/4 lb. greens (swiss chard) and 1/4 lb. baby greens. As for fruit: 5 lbs (!) plums, 3 lbs peaches and 1 pint cherries. Yay!As I sat on the kitchen floor, munching on a peach, I realized they were not quite ripe and starting dreaming about what to do with them. I've been toying with the idea of buying a bigger ice cream maker, so I was very attracted by Kelly's Peach Ice Cream (and accompanying rant) on Sass & Veracity. But dinnertime came around and I had no ice cream maker. Instead, I marinated the peaches while I prepared dinner and while we ate. Then I drizzled on some blood orange olive oil, scooped the peaches over cream top maple yogurt that I bought us as a treat last week at whole foods. Delicious.
Marinated Peaches over Maple Yogurt
- 6 peaches, unpeeled, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- juice of 1 clementine orange
- drizzle blood orange olive oil
- 1-2 cups cream top maple yogurt (go ahead--splurge)

This sounds truly delicious and far less trouble than making ice cream! I'm laughing because I remember that rant -- it's been a while ; ) I've moved my blog, so that peach ice cream recipe and many new ones are currently at Sass & Veracity [dot] com. I just may have to make that peach ice cream again, so thanks!
Kellypea,
Thanks so much! But now I do want to try your ice cream, just as soon as I get that new ice cream maker! And now I'm off to check out your new blog.
I follow 101cookbooks religiously. I have one of Heidi's books and recently saw her at the Ferry Building (where I knew she likes to shop). Nice to see that you know it as well.
